Coach Derek Kellogg's General Comments
That is our style of coaching basketball. Rhode Island played very well and put themselves in a position to win the game at the end. In college basketball, it's funny. Some games the ball goes in, some games it doesn't. Fortunately for us, Chris Lowe made a great play. Went through three guys and that was a good player making a good play. That is what college basketball is supposed to be. There were some times down the stretch where Baron would hit a three and this place would erupt and they went up a couple. I was a little nervous for awhile. I was proud of our seniors, I thought they really stepped it up. They took the team over down the stretch.
Coach Kellogg on setting up the last play for Chris Lowe
I gave it to Chris because you put the ball in your senior point guard's hands so that he can make a play. I gave him the ball and said make a play. We've done that quite a few times this year. Down the stretch, he has really started to make those plays and become more confident with that role and with our style of play. It takes time sometimes and I think our players are starting to come around.
Coach Kellogg on Matt Glass' pick to set Chris Lowe free
That was a blind pick and he did a heck of a job of finding Chris Lowe's man and that was the way the play was designed to screen him and to give him a lane to make a play. It was as good of a designed play as those guys executed it. They did a heck of a job.
