AMHERST, Mass. -- UMass seniors came out on fire and continued to click on all cylinders as the Minutemen pounded La Salle, 102-63. The Minutemen jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes and proceeded to dominate the game. The Minutemen have won five games in a row and eight of their last nine with the win.

Senior Stephane Lasme made NCAA history with his fourth triple-double of the season, becoming just the third player to accomplish the feat. He had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocked shots to join Jason Kidd (1994 at California) and Michael Anderson (1986 at Drexel) as the extraordinary trio. Lasme is the nation's second-leading shot blocker with 5.2 per game.

"I didn't know why everyone was chanting for me because the game was pretty much over. But then, Coach Ford told me to go get one block and one rebound. It's a nice thing to have but I honestly wasn't trying to get it," said Lasme.

Senior Rashaun Freeman tallied 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in his Mullins Center regular-season finale. It was Freeman's 13th double-double this season. While senior James Life tallied 17 points hitting five 3-pointers, as he reached double-figures for the first time in nine games.

"Stephane is an amazing player," said Freeman. "To even be that close [to a triple double] is so amazing. He's come a long way as a player in his four years. He absolutely deserved it tonight."

Brandon Thomas had two thunderous dunks in the opening minutes and finished with 11 points.

UMass has scored 100 or more points in three games this season, the most since they had a record six 100-point games with Julius Erving on the squad in 1971-72.

    NOTES

    * Rashaun Freeman reached double-figures for the 25th time in 29 games this season and 89 in 114 career games. He had 12 in the first 13 minutes of the game as he finished with 20. He passed the 1,700 career point mark and enters his next game with (1,716).

    * Freeman also had 12 rebounds to add to his third all-time career total (973).

    * Stephane Lasme moved to 21st in NCAA all-time history in blocked shots with 10 in the game. He now has 381.

    * James Life reached double-figures for the first time in nine games, in the first seven minutes of the game, with 11 in that span. He finished with 17. It was his 16th game in double-figures this year and 31st of his two-year career at UMass.
