AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Rashaun Freeman had career highs of 31 points and 18 rebounds to lead Massachusetts to an 82-71 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday.

The teams were tied at 29 at halftime, but UMass (10-16, 4-10 Atlantic 10) took command with a 21-5 run in the first 12 minutes of the second half and never surrendered the lead.

The Bonnies (6-19, 2-12), behind the 3-point shooting of Marques Green, whittled a 16-point deficit to four at 65-61 with 4:36 to play. But Maurice Maxwell followed with a three-point play as the Minutemen held onto the lead.

Green had a game-high 33 points and was 8 of 16 from 3-point range.

Freeman was 14 of 19 from the field and pulled down 14 of his 18 rebounds on defense.

Jeff Viggiano had 14 points and Art Bowers 13 for UMass in its final home game of the season.

UMass men's basketball returns to action next Wednesday, March 3 as it travel to Temple. Tip off is slated for 8:00 p.m. and will be televised on CN8.
