Minutemen Dominate Duquesne, 70-55

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Anthony Anderson scored 22 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to vault Massachusetts to a 70-55 victory over Duquesne on Sunday. Anderson shot 10-for-13 from the field, including 5-for-7 on 3-pointers, as the Minutemen (11-14, 5-7 Atlantic 10) outscored the Dukes 45-27 in the second half for their third straight win. Jackie Rogers shot 7-for-8 from the field to finish with 18 points for the Minutemen while Jeff Viggiano went 4-for-7 from 3-point range for 14 points. Kevin Forney had 14 points and Simplice Njoya 12 to lead the Dukes (9-17, 3-10). Massachusetts trailed 28-25 at halftime, but Viggiano hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark an 11-1 run early in the second half for a 39-32 lead. The Minutemen, who shot 71 percent from the floor in the second half, 58 percent in the game, never trailed again. Other than a 3-2 lead when Brennan Martin hit a 3-pointer at the start of the game, UMass trailed the entire first half. The Dukes led by as many as 11, at 16-5 and 18-7, but Rogers' 10 first-half points helped UMass close the gap by halftime.
Duquesne outrebounded UMass 20-10 in the first half, 30-26 in the game.
