UMass is now five games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 1997-98 season when they finished 21-11.
UMass has also secured an above .500 mark in the regular-season for the first time since the 1999-2000 season when they headed into the A-10 Tournament with a 15-14 record.
UMass' 14th win is the most in a single-season under Steve Lappas in his four years in Amherst. The 2000-01 team went 15-15 prior to his arrival. UMass also won its seventh conference game, its best A-10 record in four years under Lappas.
UMass is now 10-4 all-time vs. LaSalle and breaks a two-game losing streak to the Explorers, last winning in 2002.
UMass won its fourth OT game of the season to tie the school record for OT wins in a season, the 1995-96 team also went 4-0 in extra-session games.
UMass played its fourth overtime game of the season, one short of the school record of five set in 1997-98.
UMass is 9-1 this season in games decided by five or fewer points.
UMass dominated the glass all game, after just 24 rebounds vs. Florida State in their last game, UMass had 22 rebounds in the first half as they finished the game with 42 rebounds. In the first half, Stephane Lasme had as many rebounds as the entire LaSalle team, eight.
Led by Stephane Lasme, UMass' defense on the A-10's top scorer Steven Smith was tremendous all game. Smith, who came into the averaging 21.0 points per game, had just four free throws in the first half, going 0-for-3 from the field. Smith finished with 12 points and shot just 2-of-11 from the floor.
Lasme tied his career-high with 13 rebounds, his third double-figure rebound game of the season and fourth of his career.
Philadelphia native Maurice Maxwell reached double-figures for the ninth time in the last 10 games and 10 time in the last 12 games with a team-high 17. Maxwell had 11 points in the game's first 7:46.
Maxwell had UMass' first four-point play in more than a year as he canned a trey and added the free throw with 12:14 left in the first half - that put him into double-figures.
Rashaun Freeman reached double-figures for the 41st time in 52 career games and 17th time in 23 games this season with 16.
Freshman Jeff Salovski made his first-career start for UMass in place of Rashaun Freeman, who came off the bench for the second time this season. Salovski had four points.
Art Bowers was also in the starting line-up for the second straight game with Anthony Anderson out because of a back injury. He finished with 10 points, his second straight game in double-figures and seventh time this season. He now has 19 career games with 10 or more points.
UMass is now 5-0 when Anthony Anderson is not in the line-up winning three games back in December.
Senior Anthony Anderson did not make the trip to Philadelphia due to a sore back.
