Head Coach Steve Lappas on the team's play:
"I thought that we played a terrific basketball game. I don't usually say that often but I have to say it tonight. In the second half we played much better defensively. In the first half we followed or plan. We slowed them down, but they got a couple of transition baskets. They are a very fast team. Once we are able to turn the game into a half court game, that was much better for us. Our half court offense was as good as it's been all season."
Lappas on the play of Jeff Vigiano:
"Terrific. Unbelievable. I asked him in shoot-around how he was and he said `I feel pretty good coach.' He'd tell me. The other day he told me that he was feeling a little stiff. You saw what he does for us. He does everything."
Lappas on the team's offensive play:
"I thought our guys moved the ball as well as we have all year. What I was trying to tell the players is that the more passes you make, the more points you score. Players think, `Less passes, more points,' and that's not the case. We passed the ball tonight unbelievably. We got great shots and great looks. Our half court game tonight was on the money."
Lappas on Art Bowers:
"I give the guy credit. He is going through the toughest time in his life basketball-wise. He's never experienced anything like this before. He's had a terrific attitude from the time he was on the bench to today. He never moped. I'm sure he was upset, but he came everyday to practice and worked hard. In the last couple of games, even though he wasn't making shots, he was playing more under control, and tonight it paid off."
Lappas on the team's toughness:
"I thought our guys were really tough tonight. Even though we didn't rebound the ball particularly well by numbers, I thought we were very game. I thought we fought hard and we didn't give them an inch, and that says something about the tenacity of our guys."
Lappas on the team's season:
"We've been preaching the same thing all year. We're going to get better as the year goes on. We played eight guys tonight: six freshmen, one junior, and one senior. Guys are fitting in and starting to understand a little more now. We knew we were going to be good but we also knew we were going to be a work-in-progress. We're not a finished product yet, but we're getting better and better. We're not great right now, but we're certainly good."
Rashaun Freeman on his slow start:
"I was so overwhelmed the first three minutes of the game, I have never been that tired ever. My legs were so tired, but when I came out and saw how my teammates were playing and I went in there and did what I could do. I knew that the touches would come".
Rashaun Freeman on the physical aspects of tonight's game:
"We knew it was going to be very physical. This was one of the most athletics teams we have played all year, but we just never gave up. I realized how this game was going to be played after the first few minutes. I just posted up deeper and made them eventually back off me".
Lawrence Carrier on his role tonight and his playing time this season:
" I just came out and played my game, the shots were open, and I just fed off my teammates. I mean, everyone wants to play, but the people in front of me are playing great, so I can't complain. I am just going to wait for my time".
Maurice Maxwell on the performance against Florida State this evening:
"We got a little pattern, that when we play at our lowest, and then we play a team that most people think we shouldn't beat, and we come out and play good against them".
Maurice Maxwell's on the victory over Florida State as a momentum builder:
"This game is going to be the one. It's getting towards the end of the year and we are trying to play as consistenty as we can. We definitely need to build off this one, and look at the past games and see that we need to come out with this type of effort and really focus".
Maurice Maxwell's comments on executing tonight's game plan:
"We knew we had to win this game in the last 10 minutes of the second half. We came out knowing that we couldn't blow them out. We were practicing all week to finish strong, and we just followed the gameplan".
