Gary Forbes continued to score in double-figures in every game this season as he had 26 including 13 in the first half. Forbes has reached 10 or more in his last 26 games dating to last season.
Forbes had his fifth game with 25 or more points this season and sixth of his career. Forbes has scored 20 or more points in 14 games this season and 23 in his career.
Forbes had his fifth double-double of the season with 26 points and 13 rebounds. It was his eighth-career double-double and 10th career game with double-figure rebounds.
Forbes took a career-high 30 field goal attempts from the floor.
Etienne Brower had his fourth-career double-double and second at UMass with 10 points and 17 rebounds. His rebounding mark was a new career-high as he had reached 10 five previous times.
Brower had the first game with at least 15 rebounds since Gary Forbes had 16 against Richmond last season on Feb. 3, 2007. It was the most rebounds since Stephane Lasme had 17 against Duquesne last season on Jan. 21, 2007.
Chris Lowe tied his career-high with 23. It was his third-career game with 20 or more points. He reached double-figures for the 12th time this season and 21st in his career.
Ricky Harris reached double-figures for the 20th time in 22 games this season with 13.
UMass had a season-high 54 rebounds.
Rhode Island missed nine of its first 10 shots in the game.
