With the win, UMass won its second-straight over Richmond. The Spiders hold an 8-6 all-time lead in the series. In Amherst, UMass has won four-of-six meetings.
UMass is now 7-2 in the Mullins Center this season and 22-3 dating back to the start of last season.
UMass shot a season-high 52.3 pct (23-for-44) - previous high was 50.8 against Providence in the second game of the year.
UMass out-rebounded Richmond 32-23, improving to 5-0 on the season when leading in that category.
The Minutemen recorded three steals and forced Richmond into nine turnovers, with three as a result of its press, pushing its season total to 41 press-related turnovers.
UMass is 8-0 this season when holding opponents under 70 points and 9-1 when leading at the half. They are 8-1 when decided by 5 points or less.
UMass finished with 38 points in the paint, its second-consecutive game with 38 and second-highest this season (46 vs. Providence).
Chaz Williams finished with 18 points, his 17th game in double figures this season and 67th of his career.
Cady Lalanne had 12 points for his fifth double-figure game this season and fourth in five A-10 games. He is now averaging 12.2 points and 9.2 rebounds in A-10 play.
Maxie Esho grabbed nine rebounds, the tenth time this season he has collected at least five boards. His career-high of 10 was set at Siena (11/28) this season.
Raphiael Putney handed out a career-high five assists. His previous high was three, set three times including against George Washington last Saturday.
