UMass played its first overtime game of the season.
UMass was 0-2 in overtime last season losing at Charlotte and (69-64) on Jan. 21, 2009 and at home by Boston College.
Record Book Notes
Richmond's Darrius Garrett set the Atlantic 10 Record for blocks in a game with 14.
Richmond's Darrius Garrett (14) broke the UMass opponent record for blocks. Ohio State's Ken Johnson swatted nine in 2000.
Richmond also set a record for blocks by a UMass opponent, with 17. Georgetown set the record of 12 by Georgetown in 1996.
Ricky Harris continues to stand seventh in career scoring at UMass with 18 in the game. He now has 1,608. Next on the list is No. 6 Tony Barbee (1,643).
Harris continues stand to eighth in career made free throws with one in the game. He now has 333. Next on the list is No. 7 Rashaun Freeman (379).
Harris moved to third on the career 3-pointers attempted list with six in the game. He now has 668 to move past Carmelo Travieso (666). Next on the list is Anthony Anderson (705).
Harris continues to stand fourth in career made 3-pointers (237). Carmelo Travieso is third with 245 makes on 666 attempts from 1993-97.
Harris is ninth in career field goal attempts at UMass with 1,250. Next on the list is Tony Barbee with 1,244.
Individual Player Notes
Ricky Harris scored in double-figures for the 15th time this season in as many games with 18. Harris now has 26 games in a row in double-figures and 79 in his 113 career games. Dating to his sophomore year, Harris has 76 of his last 81 games with 10 or more points.
Harris is the A-10's second-leading active career scorer (1,608) behind only La Salle's Rodney Green (1,641 entering action on Wednesday).
Freddie Riley had his sixth game in double-figures with 22 and his second in a row.
Freshman Javorn Farrell (seven points, five rebounds) returned to action after not dressing for the last two games with a groin/hip injury.
Also Of Note
Two UMass players had lots of friends and family at the game as they returned to their homestate. Both freshmen Javorn Farrell and Raphiael Putney are from Woodbridge, Va., 90 miles north of Richmond.
