PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Delonte West scored 19 points and Alexandre Sazonov and Jameer Nelson each added 12 points as Saint Joseph's defeated Massachusetts 76-47 Saturday.
Sazonov's scoring was his highest total since a 13-point performance against Fordham on January 16, 1999 and just his sixth game with more than 10 points in his four-year career. He was 6-for-6 from the field for the Hawks (11-1, 3-0 Atlantic 10), who are on the verge of the top 25 and are off to their best start since 1964-65.
West was 6-for-11 from the field, including 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc. Nelson, who was scoreless in the first half, has been in double figures in all 12 games this year.
Micah Brand had 10 points for the Minutemen (6-8, 0-2), who turned the ball over a season-high 26 times in their most lopsided loss of the season.
Saint Joseph's, ahead 33-23 at the half, scored 19 of the first 24 points of the second half, with a jump shot by Nelson making it 52-28. The advantage would reach 29 points late in the game.
The Hawks led by as many as 11 in the first half as Sazonov scored 10 points
by making all five of his shots. Massachusetts was 8-of-23 (35 percent) from
the field in the first half.
