AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Monty Mack scored 22 points and Chris Kirkland hit 21 to lead Massachusetts to an easy 82-52 victory over Fordham on Saturday.

Leading 31-21 at halftime, the Minutemen (7-7, 1-1 Atlantic 10) used a 16-2 run in the first six minutes of the second half to make things comfortable.

The loss dropped Fordham to 7-7 and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10.

Kirkland had six points in UMass' second half explosion, which boosted the home lead to 47-23. Mack and Shannon Crooks also contributed to the uprising.

The Minutemen had lost their last three games, and four of their last five.

A 15-point streak early in the first half gave UMass a crucial lead. With the Minutemen behind 6-3, Mack got things going with a solo drive for a hoop, followed by a 3-pointer, and ended with seven points in the rally. The Minutemen ended the run ahead 18-6, before Fordham broke its scoring famine of more than six minutes.

Bevon Robin led Fordham with 13 points.
