Men's Basketball Comes From Behind To Defeat George Washington

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Monty Mack had 28 points as Massachusetts, which trailed by as many as 15 in the first half, outscored George Washington 51-23 in the second half for a 76-60 win Saturday.
Mack had nine points in a 15-0 run early in the second half that erased a 12-point halftime deficit and put the Minutemen (3-9, 1-0 Atlantic 10) up 42-39. They never trailed again.
UMass, which shot 29 percent from the field in the first half, hit 55 percent of its shots in the second half while holding George Washington (6-8, 0-1) to 30 percent.
George Washington fell behind by as many as 11 in the second half, but rallied to within 59-55 with more than three minutes to play. But UMass scored the next eight points, including a layup by Crooks after a steal and a jumper by Mack.
Attila Cosby led the Colonials, who have lost seven of their last eight, with 19 points. SirValiant Brown had 16.
Cosby had six points in a 13-0 George Washington run in the first half that
opened a 29-14 lead.
