One of five seniors on the 2001-2002 UMass roster, center Eric Williams figures to battle for a starting frontline spot after appearing in 29 games as a reserve last year...joins fellow seniors Kitwana Rhymer and Shannon Crooks as a tri-captain...impressed the Minuteman coaching staff on UMass' four-game Greek tour, averaging team-highs of 10.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and a team-best 90.0 percent at the foul line...turned in three double-figure scoring efforts on the trip and led the squad in rebounding three times..."Eric is a very skilled player who understands the game," UMass head coach Steve Lappas said. "He knows how to play and will fit in very well with our style of play."

As a Junior in 2000-2001
Averaged 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 11.6 minutes off the bench in 29 appearances, while shooting 54.1 percent from the his Minuteman debut against Iona, he tallied a season-high 14 points and nine rebounds in a season-long 26-minute stint...shot team-best 60.5 percent from the field against Atlantic 10 foes, while his overall mark of 54.1 percent ranked second on the team...Minutemen were 8-2 when he contributed five or more points...grabbed five or more rebounds nine times, including a season-high 10 caroms at Rhode Island...his rebound average (3.5 rpg) equalled the fourth-highest mark on the team...hit a pair of treys (one each against Xavier and Rhode Island)...led UMass in rebounding and blocks three times each, and twice paced the club in steals...UMass was 12-7 when he played 10 or more minutes...earned team's rebounding award at season-ending banquet...sat out the 1999-2000 season as a transfer from Syracuse, but was named to the UMass Athletic Council Honor Roll for the 1999 fall semester.

Played in 14 of Syracuse's 33 games as a sophomore in 1998-1999, starting seven...averaged 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 1998-1999...Syracuse was 6-1 with Williams as a starter...scored a career-high 17 points against Colgate in the 1998-1999 season-opener... grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds while scoring 12 points vs. Boston College for his first collegiate double-double...scored 12 points in the next game against South Carolina while leading the team with nine boards...led the team in rebounding again vs. Boston College with 10 in the opening round of the Big East Tournament...appeared in 20 games as a freshman in 1997-1998, averaging 3.0 points per contest...second-leading scorer among Syracuse freshmen with 60 points...ranked second on the team in field goal percentage (.600)...led Robeson (N.Y.) High School to the Brooklyn championship as a junior...high school All-America and Big Apple All-Star Team selection...first team All-City PSAL as a member of coach Larry Majors' Robeson Eagles...averaged 17.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists as a senior for coach Bob Buswell at Milford (Conn.) Academy, where he was a teammate of former Minuteman JoVann Johnson in 1996-1997.
