One of four former Bay State prep products on the 2001-2002 UMass roster, sophomore guard Dwayne Killings made the team as a walk-on a year ago and returns for his second season in the program...made two appearances on UMass? four-game tour of Greece...?He?s a nice young man,? UMass coach Steve Lappas said. ?Dwayne works hard in practice, and is such a positive for us because of his attitude.?

As a Freshman in 2000-2001
Made the team as a walk-on, and appeared in three games, averaging 1.0 points and 0.7 rebounds per game...scored only points of the season on a three-pointer against Fordham...also saw action at Rhode Island (0 points, two rebounds) and against the Rams in Amherst (0 points, 0 rebounds)...named to the UMass Athletic Council Honor Roll in the fall (2000) semester...received team?s Inspirational Award at season-ending banquet.

Before UMass
Opted to attend Hampton University after his graduation from Amherst (Mass.) Regional High School, but did not play basketball for the Pirates...earned All-Western Mass honors as a prep a senior averaged 14 points and six rebounds for coach Jim Matuszko...earned all-area honors from the Daily Hampshire Gazette...played three seasons on the varsity team

Born April 4, 1981, in Northampton, Mass., Dwayne is the son of Sam and Thelma Killings...his father works in the UMass controller?s office...enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
