Macdonald And Clegg Represent UMass On All-New England Teams
UMass baseball's All-New England selections Jim Macdonald and Mitchell Clegg have been honored once more as the duo was recently named to the ABCA All-Northeast Region second team. This marks the first all-region recognition for the Minutemen since Matt Torra in 2005 and the first time multiple UMass players have earned all-region nods in the same season since 1998 (Bill Cooke and Muchie Dagliere).

UMass baseball's Mitchell Clegg signed a professional contract with the Washington Nationals on Sunday and has been assigned to the Nationals' short season-A affiliate, the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League. Last Wednesday, Clegg was selected by Washington in Major League Baseball's First Year Player Draft with the first pick of the 21st round (622nd overall).

Former UMass baseball standout John Awdycki has been named as one of 10 members of the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame Class of 2009, the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame Committee announced yesterday. The first-baseman/outfielder, who lettered for the Redmen in 1962, '63 and '64, played and coached for Orleans of the CCBL.

UMass baseball's Jim Macdonald and Mitchell Clegg both took part in the 35th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game on Thursday night at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass., and helped the University Division to a 11-0 victory over the College Division. The University Team was comprised of All-New England selections from Division I institutions, while the College Team included All-New England players from Division II and III schools.
