BROCKTON, Mass. - UMass baseball's Jim Macdonald and Mitchell Clegg both took part in the 35th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game on Thursday night at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass., and helped the University Division to a 11-0 victory over the College Division. The University Team was comprised of All-New England selections from Division I institutions, while the College Team included All-New England players from Division II and III schools.

Macdonald, who picked up a first team All-New England nod as a designated hitter last week, was one of just two players to tally multiple hits in the contest as he went 2-for-5 at the plate with two of the squad's three doubles and a run scored. UConn's Peter Fatse was named Player of the Game as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored.

Clegg, an All-New England second team honoree, pitched two innings of the shutout victory. He worked the seventh and eighth, allowed one hit and walked one.

The College Team, which had won the previous two NEIBA All-Star Games, had just one runner reach third base in the game. The University Division leads the overall series 22-11-1.
