Eilenberg Named To A-10 All-Academic Team

AMHERST, Mass. - Mitchell Eilenberg, a pitcher on the UMass baseball team, has been honored by being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team that was announced by the conference on Tuesday. The junior from Brooklyn, N.Y. has a cumulative GPA of 3.74 while double-majoring in Management and Economics. He also works as a tutor in the Academic Services office.
After finishing the season with the second-best ERA on the team and setting the mark for third-highest number of pitching appearances in a season (19) in 2007, the right-hander finished 2008 with the best ERA on the club and appeared in the second-most games in UMass history (22). In 47 1/3 innings pitched this season, Eilenberg posted a 1-2 record with a team-leading seven saves and a 4.56 ERA. The saves mark was good for fifth in the A-10 this season and tied Scott Ratliff (2003) and Greg Dowd (1994) for the most in UMass history.
For his career, Eilenberg has appeared in 46 games for the Minutemen and has a 4-3 record with eight saves and a 4.40 ERA.
Eilenberg is joined on the Academic All-Conference team by Quinn Haselhorst and Kevin Miller of Dayton; Duquesne's Aaron Janusey and Derek Mechling; Alex Burt of Charlotte; Fordham's Eric Reese; Casey Moore of Saint Louis; and Xavier's Michael Lucas. Randy Moley of St. Bonaventure was named Student-Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year.
