AMHERST, Mass. - Senior pitcher Mitchell Clegg was named co-Pitcher of the Week along with Niagra University's Marcus Spalding, for his outstanding performance this past week. Clegg threw the first complete game of his career against Saint Joseph's as he struck out seven batters and allowed just six hits in the nine innings. The 3-0 win over the Hawks also marked the first shutout of the lefthander's career, making him the first UMass pitcher to throw a nine-inning, complete game shutout since 2005.

Clegg, who was also named A-10 Pitcher of the Week this week, leads the Minutemen in strikeouts this season with 49 while he also holds a team-best 3-1 record. The Woburn, Mass. native's 4.09 ERA ranks second among UMass pitchers. Both the A-10 and ECAC honors mark the first weekly honors of Clegg's career.

The Minutemen return to action today, Friday, April 24 as they will begin the first of three weekend games against the La Salle Explorers in Philadelphia.
