Had 10-game hitting streak from March 12-28, going 15 for 32 (.469)
Went three for eight in Beanpot Tournament with three runs scored
AS A FRESHMAN IN 1999:
Split time between catcher (15 starts) and designated hitter (18 starts)
Hit .387 from the right side of the plate
Had a season-high five-game hit streak from May 5-9, in which he was eight for 18 (.444) with two doubles, a homer and four RBI
Hit first collegiate home run against South Florida on March 13
Collected four hits with a double and two RBI in win over Lafayette
Cracked a three-run homer in 7-1 win over Temple
Had pinch-hit RBI double against La Salle in Atlantic 10 Tournament
HIGH SCHOOL:
Four-year letterwinner at Bishop Hendricken, where he led team to a three-year record of 72-8 and Class A state titles in 1997 and 1998
Named to high school baseball All-Star team in 1996, 1997 and 1998
Hit .533 with 28 RBI and threw out four of six baserunners as senior captain
Two-time All-State, and three-time All-Division and All-City selection
1998 All-Kent County selection and Class A-South Player of the Year
Named Most Outstanding Catcher at 1997 Brockton Invitational
Honored by Collegiate Baseball as a Blue Chip Player his senior year
