UMass Football Returns Home To Host Northeastern

The UMass football team returns to the friendly confines of McGuirk Stadium this weekend as the Minutemen (4-4, 2-3 CAA) host Northeastern (1-7, 1-4 CAA) in the first of two straight 12 Noon kickoffs at home. The Minutemen host Senior Day next week on Nov. 14 as James Madison comes to Amherst. MORE

Lecomte Scores Two In Mass Attack's 4-1 Win Over Niagara

The UMass hockey team received two goals from Michael Lecomte en route to a 4-1 win over Niagara on Friday night at the Mullins Center. Danny Hobbs and David Boehm also scored for the Minutemen (5-1-0), while Paul Dainton made 31 saves in goal. Andrew Hare made 29 saves for the Purple Eagles (0-6-1). The two teams will square off again Sunday afternoon in Niagara. Gametime is scheduled for 2 PM. MORE

Roswess Gets Golden Goal In 2-1 Win Over Richmond

Chris Roswess' golden goal gave the UMass men's soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory over Richmond in Atlantic 10 action on Friday evening. The tally came after a late goal by the Spiders forced an extra period. UMass will face George Washington in the regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C. MORE

Richmond Eliminates UMass Field Hockey 2-1 In Overtime Of A-10 Semis

    Sarah Blythe-Wood's goal with 3:41 remaining in overtime lifted top-seed Richmond to a 2-1 victory over the No. 4 seed UMass field hockey team in the Atlantic 10 Semifinals on Friday afternoon at Garber Field. The loss ends the 2009 season for the Minutewomen, while the Spiders (12-8) will advance to face the winner of the St. Joseph's and Temple.     W. Soccer Drops A-10 Tourney Match To Fordham

    Despite a pair of quality scoring opportunities, the UMass women's soccer team was unable to break through against the Fordham defense, falling 3-0 in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Thursday evening at Charlotte's Transamerica Field. The Minutewomen, who made their first postseason appearance since 2004, close out the year with a record of 6-11-2, while the Rams advance to the semifinal round with a mark of 9-11-1 overall. MORE

    Minutewomen Fall In Tournament Match Against BU, 4-3

    The Minutewomen fell in a close match against the Boston University Terriers, 4-3. Today's match was the first of three the Minutewomen will play at the Big Green Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth. After more than three weeks since competition, their last match was against Rhode Island on Oct. 14, the Minutewomen were excited to see some good competition.
