A first half goal by Jill Powers and a second half goal by Katie Kelly (pictured) led UMass field hockey to a 2-0 over Dartmouth in the inaugural game at Chase Field on Friday afternoon. Freshman Alesha Widdall made three saves in goal to earn her second-straight shutout and Erin Parker and Makaela Potts assisted on the two goals, which both came off penalty corners.
2008-09 Non-Conference Schedule
The UMass women's basketball team and Head Coach Marnie Dacko announced the squad's 2008-09 non-conference schedule on Friday, a slate that features three opponents who made appearances in the WNIT last season among teams from the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, America East, Colonial, Ivy League, MAAC and Northeast conferences.

The fourth-ranked UMass football team hits the road for the first of three consecutive road games as the Minutemen travel an hour to Worcester to play host Holy Cross on Saturday. The game kicks off just after 1 p.m. in a game that will be televised on WCTR Charter Channel 3 in Central Massachusetts. UMass is 1-0 after a solid 28-16 win over Albany last Saturday night under the new permanent lights at McGuirk Stadium.

The UMass men's soccer team will open its 2008 home slate when Siena visits Rudd Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. This will be the first home game for the Minutemen (1-1-0) who posted a nearly perfect 9-1 record at 'Fort Rudd' last season. Admission is free to all!

With the help of two goals from senior co-captain Vanessa Patry, the UMass women's soccer team opened its 2008 home schedule with a 2-2 draw against New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon on Rudd Field. The Minutewomen are now 0-1-2 to start the year, while the Wildcats sit at 1-2-1 following the contest.
2008-09 Updated Men's Basketball Roster | 2008-09 Schedule
With classes underway at UMass, Derek Kellogg has set his roster as he begins his first season as the head coach at his alma mater. Kellogg has announced the addition of transfers Hashim Bailey, a 6-10 forward/center, from the University of Memphis and Doug Wiggins, a 6-2 guard from the University of Connecticut. Both players came to UMass with two years of eligibility remaining. Also joining the roster officially is forward Travon Wilcher, a 6-7 Springfield native, who sat out last year to meet academic requirements. Wilcher will be eligible to play this season while Bailey and Wiggins will sit out as redshirt transfers per the NCAA.
