Associate Head Athletic Trainer Jennifer Brodeur is beginning her eighth year at the University of Massachusetts, and seventh serving as the head athletic trainer for the football team. She is one of very few women serving as head athletic trainers for major college football programs.
Brodeur oversees the Athletic Training Department's undergraduate internship program as well as acting as supervisor for the department's three graduate assistants. During her time at UMass, she has also worked with the men's lacrosse and men's and women's swimming & diving programs.
Brodeur joined the UMass staff in 2006 after serving as head athletic trainer for the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Prior to the Sun, she worked at Providence College as an assistant athletic trainer from 2001-06. Brodeur came to Providence from Fordham University, where she worked from 1998-2001. Brodeur served as a basketball site coordinator at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and in 2003 participated in a two week residency at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Brodeur has a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a master's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Administration from Austin Peay State University.
Brodeur is currently serving as President-Elect of the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association and served as President of the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts from 2010-2011. In 2009 she received the Athletic Training Service Award bestowed by the National Athletic Trainer's Association which recognizes contributions to the athletic training profession on the state and national levels. She was awarded the Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2013 by the NATA College and University Athletic Trainers Committee
Brodeur resides in Northampton.
