AMHERST, Mass. -
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is conducting its annual Toy Drive to
benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for children (up to age 18) at the December 5 hockey game
versus Connecticut and the December 6 men's basketball game versus Boston College.
Fans, student-athletes, and community members have shown tremendous generosity over the years in helping to bring holiday joy to the children at the Shriners Hospital. SAAC would like to remind anyone who would like to drop off a toy to keep several items in mind. Please avoid toys made of latex and foam for allergy purposes. Some of the children seem to favor interactive toys, particularly ones that light up or make sounds. Also, a group of individuals could pool their resources for one item for a
great cause.
If you would like to donate a toy but cannot attend these games, toys can be dropped off in Room 246 of Boyden Gym any day through Monday, December 8. Members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee can also coordinate any collection on behalf of their respective team.
