The UMass Sports Network won the AP Award for the seventh time in eight years.
UMass Basketball Broadcasts Named Best In Mass & R.I. By Associated Press

April 7, 2008

Amherst, Mass. - The UMass Sports Network's basketball radio broadcasts were judged the best collegiate radio sports play-by-play in Massachusetts and Rhode Island by the Associated Press. The award was presented at a dinner in Marlboro on Friday. Bob Behler and Tim Kenney's call of UMass' 107-100 win over Syracuse in November was the winning broadcast. WMUA's coverage of the UMass-Villanova football game won for the student division with Mike Walsh and Chris Marovelli announcing.

Behler, in his ninth season as the "Voice of the Minutemen," was honored for the sixth year in a row and seventh time in eight years. He has won four times for basketball and three times for football. Kenney, in his first full season as color analyst, is a first time honoree. Other members of the crew included Matt Goldstein as halftime host and Andy Bukowski as studio producer. The UMass Sports Network broadcasts were heard on WRNX, WATD, and WCRN Radio, as well as over the worldwide web on umassathletics.com.

WMUA's Walsh won his second consecutive award and Marovelli is a first time winner. They, along with Zach Claudio, formed the UMass women's basketball broadcast team all season.
