Hannah Christiansen of Inside Lacrosse has a preview of the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament which runs from Friday to Sunday in Richmond, Va.

Christiansen states that UMass looks strong and has veteran leadership at all positions as the Minutewomen look for their sixth straight conference championship title.


Anthony Chiusano of the Daily Collegian has a preview of this weekend's games for the No. 11 UMass women's lacrosse team as the Minutewomen host St. Bonaventure on Friday (1 PM) and head to Duquesne on Sunday (Noon). UMass will have a chance to take the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship and the regular-season conference title with a pair of wins.
The weekly UMass Sports Luncheon will have a new locale today as it will be held at the new UMass Rowing Boat House beginning at Noon. The Boat House is located at Sportsman's Marina in Hadley on Route 9 where the Calvin Coolidge Bridge crosses the Connecticut River.

Women's lacrosse senior Sam Rush and softball freshman Jena Cozza will be honored as the athletes's of the week. Rowing head coach Jim Dietz is the featured speaker and will give a tour of the new boat house which was opened this past fall.

Sam Rush scored with 3:27 remaining in regulation and Rachel Vallarelli made a huge save with 1.6 seconds left as No. 11 UMass took sole possession of the top spot in the Atlantic 10 standings with a 9-8 win at Richmond on Saturday.

No. 7 Northwestern used a four-goal run spanning halftime to build enough of a lead to hold off No. 10 UMass, 10-6, last night at McGuirk Stadium. The loss for the Minutewomen snapped a 31-game home win streak, however, the closeness of the game shows how far the UMass program has come after suffering eight double-digit losses to the Wildcats in previous meetings.

Six players scored goals paced by five from Sam Rush and four from Katie Ferris (along with four assists) as No. 9 UMass stormed past Vermont yesterday afternoon in Burlington.

A early start and a balanced attack led the way as the UMass women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on Saturday with a 20-7 win over Marist. The Minutewomen will return to action on Wednesday against longtime New England rival New Hampshire.
