In Sunday's Boston Herald, John Connolly had a round up of the action at the New England Championships, which were held this past Friday and Saturday at MIT.

For the piece, Connolly spoke with both UMass women's track and field head coach Julie LaFreniere and sophomore Heather MacLean following a record-breaking Saturday at the Meet. MacLean won the 800m title and was part of the Gold medal-winning 4x800m relay squad, breaking New England records in both events.

The e-mail, from the academic services within the athletic department, notified her that all women's sophomore track and field athletes could sign up for fall courses.

But on the list was freshman cross country and track and field athlete, Rachel Hilliard.

With the indoor track & field season opening up this weekend for the Minutemen and Minutewomen, the Boston Herald has a nice preview of both UMass teams.
