Tyler Fiedler of the Daily Collegian takes a look at the roster make-up of the men's swimming and diving program which features 19 underclassmen out of 29 athletes. Swimming coach Russ Yarworth and diving coach Mandy Hixon each say that despite the relative youth, the group is talented and ready to perform at a high level which is a trademark of the program.


UMass senior diver Michaela Butler makes her return to the NCAA National Championships this Thursday. Butler shocked the diving world last year with her All-American performance on the one-meter dive while defeating several high level international and Olympic caliber competitors.

Mike Gillmeister of the Springfield Republican spent some time with the UMass swimming & diving teams last week and authored a piece on the season outlooks on the various strokes and specialties.



Nick Bellofatto of the Daily Collegian has a story on the UMass Swimming & Diving teams' performances at the A-10 Championships this past weekend in Buffalo. The Minutemen claimed their fifth-straight and 13th overall title, while the Minutewomen put in a very strong performance, placing third. It was a tremendously successful meet on both sides as numerous school records fell. In addition, the following individuals were recognized:

Women's Diving Coach of the Year: Mandy Hixon
Men's Most Outstanding Rookie: Chris Inglis
Men's Most Outstanding Diver: Jason Cook
Men's Co-Coach of the Year: Russ Yarworth
