Greg Cannella
"An outstanding attackman who not only led Nassau Community College to the NJCAA national title in 1985 but was selected as an all-American and National Player of the Year.

Cannella then accepted a scholarship to the University of Massachusetts where he had 33 goals and 31 assists during his two years as a starter.

After working as an assistant coach at both Stony Brook and UMass, the Lynbrook native was named the Minutemen's head coach in 1995 and became one of the most successful Division I coaches in the country. As he enters his 20th season in Amherst, Greg has forged a record of 171-101, guided the team to eight NCAA tournament berths, including a runnerup finish in the 2006 playoffs. In 2012 guided UMass to its best regular season ever. The Minutemen finished with a perfect 15-0 regular season record and was ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time before entering the NCAA tournament.

Cannella has built a deserved reputation as a coach who exhibits integrity mixed with a sharp eye for talent and strategy. He has brought great credit to himself, his University and junior college lacrosse."
