Men's Lacrosse Moves Up In National Rankings

Thanks to wins over Providence and at No. 5 Penn State during the previous week, UMass men's lacrosse has jumped up in each of the three national rankings. The Minutemen are now No. 11 according to the USILA Coaches Top-20 and Inside Lacrosse Media Poll while they hold down the 13th slot in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings. Massachusetts is also No. 1 in the NEILA regional poll. Check out the three national rankings below to see what squads filled out the top-20 polls this week:

Eamon McAnaney of Lacrosse Magazine posted his Top 20 poll with thoughts on each team. He has the UMass men's lacrosse team ranked No. 10 and offers these thoughts on the Minutemen.

No. 10 UMass (4-0)

Greg Cannella's defense was in serious lockdown mode, as the Minutemen blow-torched Brown 15-2. It was the first time since 2001 that UMass held an opponent to just a deuce. Zach Oliveri did his share in goal with 10 saves, while Nick Mariano continued his impressive freshman campaign with five oals and his first career assist.

Men's Lacrosse Moves Into Top-10 Nationally

Another victory - the fourth in as many games this season - moved UMass men's lacrosse up in a pair of national top-20 rankings this week. After a 15-2 victory at Brown that saw the Minutemen reel off 11 consecutive goals, the Minutemen rose to No. 9 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Top-20 while they now sit 10th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and stayed in place at No. 13 according to Lacrosse Magazine.
