Dan Malone of the Springfield Republican has a story on how UMass punter Colter Johnson is still working to find his rhythm after having a minor surgery in the offseason. Overall, though, the punt coverage unit has been playing well according to head coach Charley Molnar.
"I know that Colter's disappointed at times with some of his punts. We expect great things from Colter," he said. "I believe, before this year is out, he'll get back into his rhythm and become the punter that Colter wants to be and we're expecting him to be."
Molnar believed that Johnson's issues were his and his alone to correct.
"I think our protection has been good, so that's really a high point right now in our special teams. He's had ample time to get the ball off," he said. "So, really, it's on Colter now to just take that next step forward, and I'm sure he will."
