Former UMass field hockey student-athlete Sarah Williams has been named the head coach at nearby Northampton High School recently. Williams played four seasons with the Minutewomen from 2006-09, playing in 31 games as a goalkeeper.

For the third time in as many seasons, the Northampton High School field hockey team has a new coach.

Former University of Massachusetts goaltender Sarah Williams takes the helm this season, a year after the Blue Devils made an underdog run to the finals of the Western Massachusetts Division I tournament.

While seven seniors graduated from that squad, a solid core returns as Northampton looks to contend for the Central Division championship and to perhaps make another run deep into November...
