Matt Vautour of the Daily Hampshire Gazette has a nice story today on redshirt freshman center Andrew McCarthy. Vautour talks about the anticipated matchup with McCarthy's brother's team, NJIT, and Coach Kellogg talks about how the 7-footer could help the Minutemen against some of the bigger post players on the schedule.
Vautour also hits on a few other interesting topics in the notebook, including a possible appearance by Marcus Camby in Amherst, the closed scrimmage against Drexel, advice for Chaz Williams from Edgar Padilla, and Tony Gaffney and Ricky Harris facing each other in Germany.

LAUREL, Md. - Ricky Harris, the former University of Massachusetts basketball standout, ran up and down the floor Tuesday afternoon on a day the temperature reached nearly 100 degrees in the Washington suburbs.
He spent nearly one hour going one-on-one in fullcourt workout sessions against such former Division I players as Reggie Holmes (Morgan State), Devin Sweetney (St. Francis, Pa.) and Mike Anderson (VCU).
Harris and his peers, several from the basketball-rich Baltimore-Washington corridor, worked out under the direction of trainer Joe Connelly, who has provided instruction to NBA players such as Roger Mason (New York Knicks), Hamady N'Diaye (Washington Wizards) and former Maryland star Juan Dixon.
The Malaya Business Insight is reporting that Ricky Harris has joined the Petron Blaze of the Philippine Basketball Association. Harris is replacing the injured Mike Taylor.
The Blaze will begin their PBA Governors Cup campaign on Sunday against the Meralco Bolts.
