UMass At The Field Hockey Women's National Championship (Day 6)

Play was completed at the 2014 Field Hockey Women's National Championship Saturday, with USA-Eagle securing the title over USA-Freedom with a 2-1 shootout decision following a 1-1 tie through regulation. The U21 squad also defeated USA-Blue in a shootout, 3-1 after tying 4-4 in regulation action to earn third. USA-Red outpaced USA-Patriots, 3-2 for fifth while USA-White defeated USA-Courage, 4-3 for seventh. More on each Minutewoman who competed is below.

Renee Suter started in the midfield for USA-Eagle to help the squad earn the right to celebrate as the top finishers at the 2014 Women's National Championship. She helped lead her team against former teammate Alexa Sikalis, who started in the midfield for USA-Freedom.

Izzie Delario scored another goal for the U21 team, pushing the early lead to 2-0 with her strike in the 26th minute. Her tally helped the U21 side edge USA-Blue, who was led at the tournament by UMass head coach Carla Tagliente.

USA-Red, which featured former Minutewoman Kim Young and rising-junior Sam Carlino edged USA-Patriots and rising-sophomore Hailey Cockrum. Young and Cockrum both earned starts in the finale for both sides.

Hannah Prince and Brooke Sabia appeared in the starting lineup for USA-White and spurred the squad on to its one-goal win over USA-Courage, the only squad in the eight-team tournament that did not feature a connection to UMass field hockey.
