All eight Major League Lacrosse teams opened their 2014 seasons during the weekend of Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, with seven former Minutemen contributing for their respective squads. Check out how UMass men's lacrosse alumni performed below:
Will Manny (2010-13) recorded five points via three goals and a pair of assists as Boston defeated the 2013 MLL defending-champion Chesapeake Bayhawks, 15-9 on Sunday, April 27. Manny generated his offense in the second, third and fourth quarters. He assisted on two goals in the second, tallied once in the third and struck twice more in the fourth.
Jack Reid (2003-06) also suited up for the Cannons and saw shifts on defense as Boston held the Bayhawks to only nine goals, but he did not record statistics.
The Minutemen are well-represented on the Cannons with Diogo Godoi (2006-10), Ryan Hollenbaugh (2010-13) and Kyle Smith (2010-13) also on Boston's roster.
Jim Connolly (2006-09) helped the Ohio Machine begin 2014 with a 15-8 victory over Charlotte as the veteran provided a pair of tallies, including during one man-up goal, in only three shots.
Connolly bested former UMass teammate Anthony Biscardi (2009-12) and fellow alum Jake Smith (2010-13) - members of the Charlotte Hounds. Biscardi and Smith rotated into the defensive lineup for the Hounds but did not record statistics during competition against Ohio.
Kevin Leveille (2000-03) started his 10th season competing in MLL with an assist during Rochester's 18-15 loss to New York. Leveille helped Daniel Hardy put the Rattlers ahead with the game's first goal and he scooped up a groundball as well. Leveille is one of MLL's all-time leading scorers as he owns 333 points via 256 goals and 75 assists.
Brett Garber (2004-07) was a part of the Florida Launch's inaugural game when he competed for the squad against Denver in a 14-10 loss. Garber did not record statistics in the contest.
