Freshmen Nick Mariano, Grant Consoletti and Jeff George combined for the first four UMass goals before junior Grant Whiteway stepped up to net the final two and the defense stifled a late Army rally attempt.

Cannella got an unlikely answer in Saturday's season opener at Army, as three freshmen combined for four goals in the Minutemen's 6-5 win over the Black Knights.
