The Face-Off Yearbook continues with the rollout of the Colonial Athletic Association rankings. The Blue Hens lead the coaches' poll as the team to beat but feature just one player on the coaches' Preseason All-Conference team.

The view from the top of the conference appears to be pretty muddy at the outset of the season. Delaware, picked first by the coaches, enters the year ranked No. 24 and has some major holes to fill. Hofstra, the highest ranked CAA squad in Face-Off Yearbook, was picked to finished second by the coaches a year after the Pride missed the conference tournament but made the NCAAs on the strength of their out-of-conference wins. Towson, UMass and Drexel have plenty of reasons for optimism, while Penn State is shrouded in mystery and St. Joe's is making its debut in the league.
All that adds up to another crazy season in the Colonial, a development that would raise a few eyebrows nationally as in-conference play continues to become more important for earning NCAA automatic qualifying berths. With all the shake-ups -- the introduction of the Big East and Northeast conferences, and the restructuring in the MAAC and ECAC -- the CAA has quickly become the most intriguing conference in Division I.
