The Boston Herald takes a look at UMass and its football game vs. No. 1 Delaware on Saturday.

"Delaware is leading the league in wins, so if we play well then we'll be rewarded," said UMass coach Kevin Morris. "Their run-and-pass combination is real strong and their quarterback (Pat Devlin) will probably be the player of the year based on his play so far. Defensively, they've played consistently well."

UMass holds its playoff destiny in its own hands heading into the final two games of the regular season, but it won't be an easy road.

No. 14 UMass (6-3, 4-2), which belted Maine last Saturday, 39-24, hosts high-powered No. 2 Delaware (8-1, 5-1) this week at McGuirk Stadium in Amherst, before closing the Colonial Athletic Association regular season at vastly-improved Rhode Island (4-5, 3-3) the following week. Last week, URI knocked off defending national champion No. 9 Villanova (6-3, 4-2) in Kingston, R.I.

Against Maine, junior linebacker Tyler Holmes returned interceptions of 18 and 50 yards for touchdowns, becoming the first player in UMass history with two pick-sixes in a game.

"Delaware is going to be a great atmosphere," said Holmes. "They're coming in with one league loss, to (No. 1) William & Mary (17-16 on Oct. 23).

"As the weeks go on, it gets more exciting. We just need to play the way we're capable and execute the game plan and take care of business. Maine was a good win, but now we have to have a short memory and get ready for Delaware this week."
