UMass product Victor Cruz had an amazing debut game with the New York Giants. His first catch came on a one-handed 64-yard TD grab from Jim Sorgi late in the third quarter. After a nice 21 yard grab showing his great hands once again, Cruz hauled in a 34-yarder from Sorgi to give the Giants a 24-16 lead in the fourth quarter. Cruz had 145 yards on his six catches for his hometown team in the first-ever game at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
Cruz was so popular that LeBron James tweeted @KingJames about Victor Cruz and "Victor Cruz" was listed among the top "trending items" on Twitter.
James wrote: KingJames - Victor Cruz going nuts on the Jets tonight on #MNF. Undrafted rookie from UMass. He's gonna have a job this year for sure
